Montana cities seek higher salaries for police and firemen
Montana municipalities plan to ask the state legislature to raise the general fund tax levy from 17 to 20 mills and to collect more revenue from motor vehicle and liquor taxes to fund city police, firemen, and other employees. The December 16 meeting in Helena will set proposed legislation to boost municipal funds and support wage increases amid rising costs and inflation.
