Republican County Convention Nominates a Strong Ticket
The Sweet Grass County Republican convention held in Busha and Bailey's hall elected A. T. Kelllover sheriff on the fifth ballot and named candidates for treasurer clerk and recorder county attorney superintendent of schools surveyor and other posts. Delegates to the state convention were chosen along with a central committee chaired by Geo. M. Hatch. The body endorsed McKinley and praised naval and military feats, Hawaii and Philippines policy, and a canal plan while urging economy and direct senator elections.
