Operation Of Roads Shows Big Increase
Railroads nationwide posted a net operating income of 69,185,000 in July, the largest since October and 317,000 more than June, per the Association of Railway Executives based on Interstate Commerce Commission reports from 202 class 1 lines. The June to July rise reflects a 4 percent annualized rate on tentative rate-making valuation, with 57 roads failing to cover expenses and taxes.
