Michael Hackney, a well known Big Elk resident, died when a horse fell on him while he and N S Campbell gathered cattle. Hackney rode a horse bought days earlier, disappeared over a hill, and was found later dead in a coulee. He was brother to Mrs Campbell and Mrs Pound. funeral planned for Monday in Martiusedale.
At the residence of George Gordon in Riverside Livingston Enterprises reports the marriage of Win M Gordon to Miss Geddes Rogues. Rev W C Fowler officiated in a quiet ceremony attended by family. The groom presides over Gordon Bros Lumber and manages Stillwater yards while the bride, formerly of St Paul, has worked as a typewriter in the Livingston office. They return to Livingston after the ceremony in Big Timber.
The Chicago Herald argues that patronizing a newspaper is essential and business cannot afford to neglect advertising. It claims advertisers lose far more from neglect than printers suffer, noting advertisers earn far more from ads than publishers.
The Livingston sheriff's office received a telegram from J. J. Crittenden first lieutenant of the 22nd infantry. It offers a sixty dollar reward for the apprehension and delivery of Private John Maverrick company 1 22nd infantry who deserted on August 27 93. He is fair complexioned blue eyed light brown hair 5 feet 6 inches tall with a scar on the end of the first finger of his right hand and another on the back of his right wrist one inch long. He is Hungarian and speaks English poorly.
Ray McPherson aged 10, son of Mrs Maggie McPherson, died on William Kearns ranch five miles northwest of Livingston last week. He was riding a horse with a harness when thrown. his foot caught, and he was dragged to death with multiple injuries.
Inter Mountain reports Barney Gogerty a Northern Pacific conductor from here had both legs cut off by a train in Colorado about two months after leaving in disgrace. His brother J W Gogerty left for Colorado a few days ago.
President Talcott of the National Park Bank in Livingston reports that deposits over 200000 have accepted the bank’s proposition and expects to reopen today. Separately, on Saturday September 2, the infant child of Mr and Mrs Perley R Lowell in Lake Basin died of cholera infantum at four months ten days, with heartfelt sympathies offered to the family.
Gen. Nelson A. Miles stationed in Chicago and commanding the Missouri department enjoys fishing on the Boulder with his nephew A. W. Miles of Livingston. Miles is third in line for succession as commander in chief of the U S Army, and the outing highlights his leisure amid senior duties.
J. M. Wheelon of King Solomon Mining reports arrival of new engine and boiler machinery at the Solomon City mine and states the mill is planned to be in operation within a few weeks after installation.
The Spofford’s late landlord A. J. Edson left Billings for the east on the first train after a career of bilking many in Red Lodge. He reportedly amassed money before disappearing, leaving creditors with only a yellow dog and two mongrel pups as his assets.

Thomas A. Barney escaped from the Billings jail between 5 and 6 p.m. He had shot and killed E. B. Cooley on Buffalo Creek in Musselshell country on May 22 after a quarrel over range. Trial at the June term ended with a hung jury. bail set at 10000, which he could not meet, and he remained jailed. He exploited jailer trust to gain liberty and rode off on a fast sheriff’s horse, miles away before being missed.

A Cheyenne gathering of six of Wyoming's twelve county representatives adopted resolutions backing free and unlimited silver coinage at 16 to 1, protesting Sherman act repeal without a substitute. They called for a state convention by Sept 20 to address financial issues and urged Senator Carey to oppose unconditional repeal.
Superintendent John Fea of the Georgia Mining and Milling company says water interference slows operations in their mines. The mill will be temporarily operated on custom ores to continue work.
