Tench C Hannon known as a longtime Melville peace maker was shot dead Sunday by Charles B James aged 34. The inquest traced the melee that began with a dispute at the old hotel and continued with a confrontation near the dining room. James fired while Hannon was unarmed and attempting to intervene. Hannon died after being taken to town for medical aid.
