Montana Court Rules Sunday Dancing Prohibited in Sell-Drink Halls
The Montana Supreme Court denied Joseph Kline of Butte a writ of habeas corpus, holding Sunday dancing illegal where admission is charged. The ruling upholds a long policy of Sunday closing laws dating to 1871, except where dancing occurs in public parks or playgrounds with no admission and no liquor served. The decision also affirms Fergus county's ruling against Winnett Pacific Oil Co. and Dan Wilson, awarding $4,000 to Wilson on a separate contract dispute.
