Funeral services for Edward A. Davis were conducted at 11 in the Seventh Day Adventist church with a Bozeman minister presiding. He died Friday night at his brother’s ranch after a two week illness. Interment was at Mountain View. Davis, born January 10, 1868 in Minnesota, came to Montana in 1884 and lived in Big Timber. survived by three brothers and several nieces and nephews in Montana and Canada.

Funeral services for Mrs Johanna Permelia Holtan who died after injuries from a bus crash near Cedar City Utah were held at Big Timber Lutheran church with Rev E E Tollefson officiating. Pallbearers included Charles McDonnell McLean Clark Clarence Loftseaarden Arthur Berg S H Johnson and Alfred Andem. Double services for Mrs Holtan and sister Agnes Peterson were held in Ryder North Dakota. Mrs Holtan is survived by son Harlan and three brothers and sisters and grandchildren.

McKenzie Anniversary Marked by Large Community Reception
Mr and Mrs W D McKenzie celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with a Friday reception at their East Third avenue home attended by about 150 guests from Butte Livingston and nearby areas. A Fraternity hall dance followed with 100 attendees and a midnight supper. The couple, married Oct 4 1896 in Roswell Idaho, moved to Sweet Grass county in 1899 and later to Big Timber. They have seven grandchildren and their ranch near Duck Creek is run with sons Donald and Clark. son Robert is in Lodge Grass and daughter Margaret Kaiserman is deceased. Mr McKenzie has held leadership roles in Woolgrowers Hunters Springs Canal and local welfare efforts.

4-H and FFA Members Enter Animals in Billings Fat Stock Show
Ten 4-H club members and four Future Farmers entered 26 fat lambs and two calves for the Regional Junior Fat Stock show and sale at Billings this week. County Agent H. M. Oefstos notes Scott Hoskinson leads the group from Sweet Grass county with Mrs. Murray and Mrs. Messing aiding. The four days run October 9 to 12 with the fair board helping cover transport, meals, and lodging.

Services Held Monday For Mrs. Alice Webster
Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at the Congregational church for Mrs. Alice Webster widow of Samuel G. Webster after a two month illness. Rev. H S Tool led the service with the Eastern Star ritual. organist Mrs. Ceryl V O Leary accompanied the choir. She leaves a daughter Mrs Edward Franklin two sisters Mrs Anne Winslow of Big Timber and Mrs Eleanor Lee of Seattle eight grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Interment followed at Mountain View cemetery with out of town relatives Edward Franklin and son Douglas and nieces Mrs J H Delano of Billings and Mrs L B Paine of Forsyth in attendance. Mrs Webster born September 30 1871 in Cook County Illinois moved to Minnesota then Big Timber in 1895 where she taught and served as county superintendent. She married December 1 1898 to Samuel G Webster who died May 6 1937. She taught rural schools in Sweet Grass County and in Big Timber and volunteered in the aircraft warning service during World War II. She knit for the Red Cross and served at the USO center in Cambria. She belonged to the Presbyterian church Ladies Aid Missionary Society Eastern Star Shrine club and Past Matrons club in Big Timber and recently received a life membership in the Eastern Star.

O P Terland Dies Suddenly on Big Timber Train
Oselius Peterson Terland known as O P Terland, retired Bridger creek rancher, died of a heart attack on train No 1 as it neared Big Timber. He was traveling home from St Paul after a Norway trip with his wife and nephew Sigvart Terland. Funeral will be at Big Timber Lutheran church Saturday at 2 PM. Lowrys handling arrangements.

Hurricane Vanishes Near Florida
A hurricane bearing 125 mph winds veered from the west Florida coast and dissipated over the Carolinas and Virginia. No significant damage was reported from Tampa to the Atlantic seaboard as winds weakened to 27 mph in Charleston and 40 mph in Spartanburg. The cause of the sudden turn remains a mystery.

2 Per Cent Rate On City Bonds
The City of Big Timber awarded $36,000 in refunding bonds Monday night to Citizens Bank and Trust Co of Big Timber and Yellowstone Bank of Columbus at a 2 percent rate with a $20 premium. The move retires $36,000 of the 1934 $110,000 water system issue, reduces cost from 4 percent, and saves the city as the 6,000 annual payments plus interest continue.
