Notable Montana public figure Nathan Godfrey dies at Columbia Hospital
Nathan Godfrey a longtime Montana stockman and public servant died Saturday at Columbia Hospital. He served as railroad commissioner, in the legislature, and as chief clerk of the house or secretary of the senate in various terms. Born 1860 in Maine, he moved to Montana in 1877 and lived in Helena for over a decade before turning to sheep farming in Meagher County. Funeral arrangements will follow after relatives in Minnesota and Montana are notified.
