Bozeman Hob son and Harold Holen will join Haskins and Sells for a ten week internship from January 1 to March 15. Boyd goes to Seattle office while Holen goes to Los Angeles. They will gain tax and audit experience, earn seven college credits, traveling expenses and salary during full time employment. Representatives interview seniors nationwide to select top students for training and potential employment.
Casper Casper college named Vern Nelson and John Hooper as president and president of the Ropin' and Riggin' Rodeo club. Both are rodeo scholars with Casper college ties and a history of top five collegiate rodeo finishes.
A Wall Street Journal ad funded by Puerto Rico touted 28 percent returns and tax exemptions to lure U S manufacturers. Ballots listing nominees for the agricultural stabilization and conservation county committee were mailed to eligible voters. Voters have through November 30 to return ballots, with three regular members and two alternates to be elected from listed candidates plus possible write ins.
The county ASCS chairman reminds farmers that the fall signup for wheat stabilization ends December 1. Airman Basic David T. Olsen, son of Mr and Mrs Torval Olsen of Big Timber Montana, is assigned to the United States Air Force technical training course for administrative specialists at Amarillo AFB Texas. Olsen has completed the first part of basic training at Lackland AFB Texas.
The report notes 12 inches of snow with an inch of moisture and a chinook wind rapidly melting snow in town while making county roads nearly impassable. Local conditions include days with subfreezing lows and mid 40s to 50s highs, and precipitation affecting travel.
The Dude Ranchers association in Livingston backed the Wilderness Bill after near unity support at the meeting. Airman Third Class James E. Thompson Jr. from Big Timber Montana has completed the U S Air Force technical training course for aircraft engine mechanics at Shepard AFB Texas. He studied reciprocal engine construction operation and maintenance for cargo aircraft and will be assigned to McChord AFB Washington after graduation. A Sweet Grass County High School graduate.
Montana Power is ranked first in safety among comparable gas and electric utilities by the National Safety Council. The Butte company has logged 959,355 man-hours without a lost-time injury, aiming for one million hours by December as safety director W. V. McDonnell explains. The last lost-time incident occurred June 20.
Malcolm H. Goosey of the Savannah River Laboratory will address the Savannah River section of the Instrument Society of America at 7:30 p m on Wednesday. His talk, General Considerations in the Design of a High Speed Temperature Monitoring System, includes background and design factors and a review of related work. He holds a physics degree from Montana State College and has published in Nucleonics Journal.
The Red Cross finished a home nursing class this Friday with 21 members. Instructors were Mrs. B. Olness and Mrs. Pearl Miller, with assistants Mrs. Cecil Valgamore and Mrs. Ed Mack aiding.
Chet Huntley and crew from the National Broadcasting Company visit Reed Point to film an hour-long documentary on how modern highways affect small towns. Mrs Huntley accompanies him at the Huntley home. Crew includes Walter Krutz Bill Hill Wendell Hoffman and Ambrose Brumfield among others for a national TV telecast next March.
Five Thespians Dixie Warp Shelley Brennan Gary Braine Don Wulff and Helen Strobelaccompanied their director Mer vin Wertz to the Eastern Montana college festival. The Big Timber group earned superior ratings for setting lighting costumes and makeup and an excellent rating for play casting directing and general effectiveness.
