James Farnum of Park County Montana pleaded guilty to first degree murder in district court before Judge H J Miller. He admitted killing Albert Parr as retribution for alleged mistreatment of his wife and her family. Sentencing was set for a later date and Parr’s widow Mrs Parr entered not guilty.

Laurel Man Killed In Auto Crash Near Shelby
William Gill longtime Laurel resident and former operator in the Kevin Sun burst oil field of northern Montana died in Shelby hospital from a fractured skull and other injuries after a head on collision near Abell hill east of the Absher refinery. His wife Mrs Gill survived with nonfatal injuries.

Funeral services for Della McCurry Connolly wife of Roy Connolly were held at the Lutheran church with Rev A A Holbeck assisting. Interment was in Mountain View cemetery. She died from injuries suffered in a car crash ten days earlier at age 31. She leaves husband and two sons Stev 9 and Gerald 6 at Christmas, plus her mother and many relatives including brothers from several states and a sister with husband present.

Representative William A. Oldfield of Arkansas a Democratic whip in the House died today after an operation. His body will be taken to Batonville Arkansas for the funeral. He was completing his 2th year in the House and was a key member on taxation and tariff debates and one of the oldest Democrats on the Ways and Means Committee.

At the regular meeting the council awarded a Delaval pump for installation at the power plant, replacing the worn reserve unit. Montana Power company awarded Morony hydro electric plant contracts to Phoenicl Utility of New York for a 70,600 horse power facility on the Missouri river northeast of Great Falls. Work underway since last month with Birsh & Sons grading seven miles of railroad to connect Morony with the Great Northern line at Goesdale. Protest halts purchase of Moss home by Montana Home for the Aged
A temporary restraining order halted the sale and transfer of the P. B. Moss residence to the Montana Home for the Aged. Judge C F Goddard signed the injunction at the request of neighboring property owner T A Snidow, who sues to block the sale on grounds of property depreciation and tax concerns. The prior sale to Stockdal trustee for the Home occurred Tuesday for 15 500 with a one fifth down payment and four annual payments, but the injunction now leaves title with the county until the suit resolves.
