Fire Destroys Major Buildings at X Bar A Ranch
A early Wednesday fire at the X Bar A Clark dude ranch razed seven buildings including the old main structure and dining hall. Firemen from Big Timber fought the blaze amid gale winds until fuel tanks exploded, spreading flames to cottages and the Bo Clark home. Only three cabins and the recreation hall remained. Bo Clark was away hunting but expected back.

Lions Club in Big Timber Discusses Fire Hall Remodel
Mac Clark led a Lions Club meeting at Frye's last Tuesday noon reviewing City Council repaint and repair plans and a remodel to front of the Big Timber fire hall. Clark's remodeling estimate was 5825 with 2000 for repainting and related work. Funds could be set aside now for a spring project and members urged to express support. Guest Paul Briesh, future Treasure State Telephone official, introduced by Bob Knutson, as Knutson moves to Continental Telephone in Oregon. A $250 Christmas fund was approved for the committee. Tom Ellis announced plans for displays, bells, a large downtown tree, and Santa's arrival. The annual Broom Sale is Tuesday Dec 9 with a 6 pm meeting followed by a 7 pm house-to-house canvass.

Funeral services are set for 2 p.m. today at the Lowry Chapel in Livingston for Thomas Paul Broderick 48 who died Tuesday in Memorial hospital. Rev J C Bloebaum will officiate and burial will follow in Mountain View cemetery. Born October 26 1921 in Lander Wyoming he moved with his family to Sweet Grass county then Park county before settling in Livingston where he worked in construction.

Doing Well Mr and Mrs Louis Taylor were in Billings Saturday to see Gordon Holton of Edgar who was hurt in a truck crash on Interstate 90 near the South 27th street exit. Holton was hospitalized with head and chest injuries but improved.

Experiment Ends withdrawal of Red Cross Five Rivers chapter
The withdrawal of Sweet Grass and Park county chapters from the Five Rivers Chapter of the American Red Cross was approved by the Board of Governors on October 28 in Washington. The experimental arrangement failed locally and elsewhere. final withdrawal arrangements will be completed in December.
