The body of James Leslie, a recent Bridger Creek homesteader from Toledo, was found near the main track at Greycliff. Coroner J A Mulkern and a coroner's jury investigated while a mysterious stranger was seen at the depot and authorities search for motive and possible assassin.
The column lists needs for a county bridge across the Yellowstone at Greyelit and warns river crossings are dangerous. It notes T. J. Harris loaded four grain cars and had to ford the river. Local entertainment plans for Thanksgiving night attract attendees. residents build poultry barns and a brush pavilion for July 4th. The town enjoyed the Quincy Adams Sawyer opera and comments on actors. QO Nepstad reports a profitable trip east. Ole Birkeland, Grandpa Cosgriff, and Thos Cosgriff are mentioned in local developments.

Miss Morissey plans a Thanksgiving program on Wednesday the 28th. County Institute on the 22d 23d and 24th means no school on Thursday and Sunday next week. The October issue of The Young Citizen is used in all grades and highly liked. Basketball provides joy for seventh and eighth graders. Room four had two spelling matches last Friday with Winnifred Richards and Norma England winners. Ethel White of room 3 is ill. Room 5 earns a quarter holiday Friday for twenty days without a tardy.
A double wedding was held last Saturday at the Berg ranch southeast of the city. Alfred Berg married Sanna Gustad and Sophia Berg married Martin Ostenson in a 4 PM ceremony by Rev. Wold of Melville. Guests enjoyed a wedding feast and social time.
Mr Borron reports Bishop Lawrence rejects credit for the Prayer Chain calling it nuisance. He says the bishop publicly disapproved of the practice and questioned how such religious nonsense could persist in the era. Rector Co. W. MacWinstans, St Marks Church.
A $25 reward is offered for the return of two described horses in Big Timber Montana. One is a light bay branded gap 1 with a black stripe in the face. the other is branded ise notify ey. Bystanders are asked to contact Stewart Laila or Davip Finn at Stewart Montana.
Coroner reports a man identified as John Chase was killed by train No 1 about one and a half miles east of Greycliff. The victim, drunk and wandering, lay on the track in a curve. the engineer did not see him. A coroner's jury ruled death by being run over. The body was found torn and scattered along the track. The deceased's mother in Worcester, Massachusetts, was notified.
Monthly school report for Melville School District No. 5 covering the month ending November 9 lists grammar grades with enrollment 15.85 average membership and 97.4 percent attendance, six days absent, 17 tardiness cases. Perfect attendance named Ida Christenson Isabel Whalen Frank Tessier Geraldine Whalen Harold Colvin Pearl Hanson Christena Christenson. Minerva Powell, teacher. Primary grades show enrollment 19 with average membership 17.4.
In the meeting, the main difficulty noted was parental indifference to children’s attendance. A message invites parents to bring their children, with services planned around The Child and the Man for Sunday morning and What Jesus thought of himself and his mission for the evening. A lost tusk and breast pin with a Philippine gold dollar are offered for return to Mrs. J. A. Munson.
