Death of Jerry Officer After Heart Ailment in Phoenix
Jerry W Officer 26 died Friday night at 4150 North 29th Avenue Phoenix following a month long illness from a heart ailment linked to rheumatic fever in youth. Funeral services were held in Memory Chapel with burial at Memory Lawn Memorial Park. He was born in Big Timber, son of Guy and (Mrs) Officer, and graduated from Sweet Grass County High School in 1948. He married Dolores King of Monarch, settled in Great Falls, then moved to Phoenix last year where he worked as a machinist for Vernon Tool Co. Survivors include his wife a daughter Rita three and a half and a son Dennis ten months his parents a brother Charles and another brother William a sister Betty Cook and cousin Larry Officer, all residents in Phoenix.

Armistice Day Observed by Local Schools
Armistice Day programs were arranged by Mrs. Harry Coster of the American Legion Auxiliary. At the high school Karl Bryan spoke on the day’s meaning while E. J. Bott delivered invocation and benediction. A student quartet sang and the pledge was led. Grade school student Clive Haas spoke and a film titled Our Living Constitution was shown. A minute of silence at 11 o'clock closed the observance.

Serious gunshot injures James Carter in Sheep Mountain region
James Carter of Hunter's Hot Springs remains in serious condition at Lott hospital after a .22 caliber pistol wound to the chest. Clifford Parr said the gun discharged during a shouted warning. Carter was within six to eight feet. Lucien Carver, visiting from Cle Elum, could not confirm details.

Christmas Seal Book Marks at Sweet Grass County Library
Mrs. O A Fallane announced all Sweet Grass county residents borrowing books before Christmas will find Christmas book markers inside each volume. The bookmarkers promote the 1952 Christmas seal sale running Nov 17 to Dec 25 and feature a ski trail with health messages. Tuberculosis literature and seals pamphlets are also available through the Montana Tuberculosis Association.

Fire Destroys Farm Buildings at Hammersmark Ranch
A noon Friday fire at the Mike Hammersmark ranch destroyed all out-buildings including a sheep shed, cow barn, milk house, and tractor tire. The Big Timber fire department could not save the structures. a milking machine was saved. Loss partly covered by insurance.

Two Hunters Fined Total of 425 Dollars for Spotlight Deer
John Young Jr. of Great Falls and Ted Nelson of Reed Point admitted shooting a deer by spotlight just after midnight near Reed Point. Deputy Game Warden Clyde V. Christensen arrested them. each man was fined 212.50 dollars. One buck was found after the incident.

Mrs Agnes Grande 66 widow of Andrew Grande a Lennep stockman died Sunday morning at her ranch home in Lennep after a heart attack. Born in Melville she was daughter of Syver and Crest.
