Mrs Ray Collins Sweet Grass county Christmas Seal chairman announced the tuberculosis fund drive runs from November 14 through the holiday season. The annual effort has reduced tuberculosis deaths from leading cause to 13th, with 37 deaths and 234 new cases in 1959. Mailings begin next week with seals mailed from Helena.

Two 4-H Members Win State and National Honors
Florence Yost and Ellen Broughton, Sweet Grass county, earned top 4-H honors this year. Florence won a trip to the 4-H congress in Chicago, leaving Thanksgiving day with 48 state members to attend the International Livestock Show and related 4-H programs. Ellen received a $100 scholarship at Montana State College for ten years of 4-H work.

Brannins Retrace Overland Route Visit in Port Orchard
Dick Brannin Sid Brannin and son Scott arrived from Port Orchard Washington for a family visit. They followed an indirect coast to California path then New Mexico. Dick recalls traveling with 90 burros and a goat herd as a boy while walking most of the way. Sid seeks mountain lion sightings but odds are slim near Port Orchard and in this area.

Services Held For McLeod Rancher Petersen
Peter Hansen Petersen 69 died last Thursday at the community hospital after a two week stay due to septicemia. Funeral services were held Saturday at Lowry Chapel with military rites by American Legion Sweet Grass post 19. He was born in 1891 in Denmark, lived in Canada, Billings and Hesper, then Big Timber and Boulder area before settling in McLeod. Survivors include son Martin Petersen of McLeod and daughter Della Hiedik of Roundup, plus five grandchildren.

The Sweet Grass County Farm Bureau held a kickoff breakfast at the Legion hall last Thursday to launch its membership drive. State Bureau representative Bob Murdock spoke, with Morris Tronrud Jr. as county chairman. Two teams, East led by Ed Adams and West led by Tronrud, were formed. the winning team will dine with the losers at Frye's cafe on Saturday.
