Crowded Big Timber and Sweet Grass County edition highlights Herder Girls basketball wins with one loss. City County Planning Board meeting recap appears on page 6 alongside a Cort Hotel farewell feature. Page 4 reports Jane Ann Beek’s new life in Alabama.
The Pioneer could not publish county vote breakdowns with all precincts active at press time. An early deadline forced staff to abandon posting, with complete county results to appear in the November 10 issue and later in the front window when final outcomes are known.
Sweet Grass County reports 1704 of 2103 registered voters participated, an 81 percent turnout. Final county results were not ready by press time as tabulation continued through the night, with precinct tallies of 407, 515, 386 and 396 voters.
Twenty eight Sweet Grass FHA members with advisor Diana Propp and parents attended the annual District 10 Convention on Saturday October 30 at Bridger. Theme was Those Who Lead Follow. Keynote speaker Mrs Marge Strouf. Workshops covered Powder Puff Mechanics Wanted Healthy Babies Parliamentary Procedure Leadership and more. District officers and state FHA officers participated with songs and a slide program about a trip to the National FHA Convention.
Jane L Indreland daughter of Mr and Mrs Quentin Indreland of Big Timber is named in Who's Who Among American High School Students for 1975 76. She earned Outstanding Home Ec Plaque and straight A's in Home Ec and Office Practice. She led Concessions and Co-concessions and was an honor student in senior year. She won a scholarship and attends Kinman Business University in Spokane Washington.
Alban Roemer guides readers through building a simple compost pile in his yard. He describes a yearslong, layered system turning organic waste into rich soil for a moss garden and flowering beds. He warns against seeds in weeds and stresses ventilation to prevent odors.
The text portrays Jimmy Carter emerging as a national leader from Georgia with a people first message. Walter Mondale of Minnesota is named his running mate as they campaign on welfare reform, tax criticism, and strengthening families. Carter pledges no farm embargo and stresses renewing faith in government.
The County Planning Board met in regular session to hear Mike Sterz reports on planning progress and meetings. They discussed bylaws for boards and a fee procedure for subdivision developers. The board also considered interim zoning outside city limits and planned a memorandum to county officials. A hearing on water set for November 5 was noted.
