Thomas Miles Pioneer Of Park County Laid to Rest
Thomas Miles longtime Livingston resident and Park county pioneer died at 6 30 pm after a year of illness chronic nephritis listed as the cause. Funeral services set for 2 pm Monday at the Miles home 327 South Second street with Rev Mark G Inghram of the Congregational church officiating. Undertaker W B White in charge. Miles came to Montana in 1883 with brother Billy building a feed and grain business that made him one of Livingston’s leading merchants. He was born December 18 1847 in Hickory county Missouri to S B Miles and Mary Miles. He met Kit Carson in Julesburg and traveled with Carson on early frontier ventures before returning westward across the plains. The obituary notes a long life of frontier travel and business pursuits.
