Plans are under way for a monster picnic along the 1100 mile Twin Cities Aberdeen Yellowstone park automobile trail on May 22. About 100000 men are asked to devote the day to highway improvement with squads on each mile. Lunches will be served by women and evenings feature community exercises. Businessmen may close from 7 am to 6 pm.
Sunday May 10 service under the W. C. T. U. auspices with Rev Black delivering a sermon. Each mother will be remembered with a white carnation and a special invitation is extended to every mother.

The east visitors include Mrs. B C Lent of Waterbury Connecticut and Mrs. Nelle Merrick of Pittsburgh Pennsylvania, plus Mrs. K. E. Sturtevant of Portland Oregon. Relatives from Livingston and Billings join as dinners and visits fill days. The group plans sight seeing and a West Boulder fishing trip before the women continue to Portland and the coast.
Washington reports war department orders giving General Funston control to extend US lines from Vera Cruz as he sees fit. He indicated Mexican troop concentration aims to guard rail lines to Mexico City. Inter oceanic railroad damage reported near Vera Cruz.
The annual Junior Prom at Sweet Grass High wowed with colors, gowns, and music. The event in the new gym featured Wood's Orchestra, elaborate decorations in garnet gold and blue white, and a grand march at nine.

Bozeman figures, Lester P Work, Meg Harvat join to lease Briggs Ellis properties north of the Yellowstone river excluding the main ranch. The group plans to employ many men and run thousands of sheep. Harvat asks The Pioneer to publish that supplies will be bought locally, as Bozeman offers better prices and the new bridge will boost north side commerce.
George Kirkenball, a machinist helper for the Chicago Milwaukee and Puget Sound Railroad, received damages after an explosion in North Dakota on February 25 1914 severely disfiguring his face. Miller and O Connor of Livingston represented him following a conference between the railroad’s Miles City representative and others.
James Woods of Springdale spent Saturday in the city with Mr. Miller of Iowa. Miller is touring near Springdale and scouting lands with intent to buy.
A suffrage day event at Mrs. W. P. Franklin’s home in Big Timber featured a reception and program with talks readings and music. Mrs. Harvey Coit opened with a movement history, a Luftkrieg discussion and piano solos followed by readings and an open discussion ending with the Suffrage Song.
Washington dispatches report Congressman Tom Stout recommended the reappointment of Mrs Augusta C Sheridan as postmistress for the city. She has served over two terms with the eighth year ending March 7 and was first appointed after her husband died in 1906. The nomination goes to the senate for confirmation. qualification blanks have arrived and will be filled this week.
At the May city council session Harry R. Snyder took the oath and joined the council replacing Dr. Wearne in the second ward, while Ernest R. Patterson remained in the first ward and kept his committee seats. The body approved prior minutes and noted April financials with a $10,661.27 balance and $1,584.50 in April receipts. Police reported 28 arrests, $50 in fines, 67 meals served, and 27 street-prisoner work days. the police magistrate logged $50 in fines. The Silver Bar saloon license case was dropped after advice on midnight closing. Fred H. Foreman received permission to erect a metal-covered building adjacent to his shop. An ordinance to create an improvement district to extend water mains on Fourth Avenue was authorized for drafting. A request for a street light in front of Sweet Grass County High School was postponed pending a cluster night proposal.
Charley Blaser, who traveled from Boulder last week for treatment by Dr Reed for blood poisoning, has returned home Saturday and is out of danger.
