Mrs. Margaret Douthett wife of Alderman L F Douthett died at the family home on Third Avenue West Sunday evening after a brief pneumonia illness. Funeral services were held at St. Josephs church with Rev Father Lunca officiating. Interment followed at Mountain View. She was 37 years and 10 months old born in Minnesota and mother of eight children, six living. Relatives from Sioux City Minneapolis Hope and other places attended.
Helena March 21 Governor Sam V Stewart vetoed all bills for state normal schools at Billings Lewiston Malta Kalispell and Terry He said Montana does not now need six normal schools and that economy was emphasized by the state board of education during the January meeting The move reflects a debate over expanding teacher training facilities in the state.
March 23 report notes the new municipal water plant has removed defective mains and will be accepted at a city council meeting next Tuesday. The administration urges residents to disconnect from J A Murray of Butte and switch to the municipal system, which has 900 connections so far. A public reception at the Intake plant aims to spur faster connections as the Murray franchise, once revived in litigation, stands superseded by the city’s two complete facilities considered among the northwest’s best watered cities.

Stewart signed senate bills creating new counties by resident referendum and approved house bill 159 transferring state control of labor agents and employment agencies. He vetoed house bill 430 and senate bill 91, criticizing the liquor legislation and warning against loosening prohibition.

Thirty four alleged I. W. W. and other undesirables from Seattle and Pacific coast cities moved through Pocatello Idaho en route to Ellis Island for deportation. Five were women and officers kept their special prison car locked during the stop. Two sisters in the group Margaret and Janet Roy are avowed anarchists. The officers said they had tried to avoid deportation by marrying an alleged American citizen.

Prices ranged from about 40 to 90 cents depending on grade and shrinkage.
