Pioneer resident Pearl Bruffey age 78 died Friday at Columbus nursing home after a stroke. Born July 10 1877 in Spring Valley Minnesota she moved to the Boulder area in 1883 and married Primus Bruffey in 1900. Funeral services were at Lowry Funeral Home with Christian Science rites. burial at Mountain View. Survivors: sons George and Ward. sister Mrs Wilbur Officer. two grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

Annual FHA FFA Banquet Draws 185 Guests

Bride Joyce Hauge Weds Robert McDonald in Big Timber

Evelyn Joyce Hauge daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Olaf Hauge married Robert Sidney McDonald son of Mr. and Mrs. A. C. McDonald in a 4 p.m. Big Timber Lutheran ceremony officiated by Rev. Hood. Attendants wore pink and navy, reception for 170 followed at the church parlor. The couple will reside in Missoula after a honeymoon trip. both are graduates of Sweet Grass County High School.

Cayuse Hills 4-H Club Organized at Cherry Creek School

A meeting at Cherry Creek school organized the Cayuse Hills 4-H club with eight charter members. County Agent F B Peterson described 4-H activities. Officers include Harry Berg president Dick Hanson vice president Kenneth Hanson secretary treasurer Carol Hanson recreation leader Glenn Berg reporter and Ed Adams Jr leader.

Farmers Service Annual Meeting at American Legion Hall

The Farmers Service Assn held its annual meeting at the American Legion hall in Sweet Grass county with 150 members and families dinner at noon. Principal A R Collins and Ed Adam outlined the need for a higher high school levy to keep the school accredited. 1955 sales reached 135,656.78 with cash patronage dividends of 6,001.31 and 4,726.52 credited to future patronage shares. Total equity and interest stood at 69,591.47. The group favored replacing the warehouse to meet growing business, even before farm show recovery. John M. Rook was re elected to the board for three years. Six advisory committee members were named for one year terms: Ben A Clark, George Carr, Kenneth Flare, W B Spencer, Ben Tetlie, and Rasmus Boe. A G Ladwig of Farmers Union Central Exchange presented a film titled What Price Plenty.

Andrikopoulos to Speak at Sweet Grass Farm Bureau Meeting

Basil P. Andrikopoulos of the Rocky Mountain Oil and Gas Association will be principal speaker at the Sweet Grass County Farm Bureau meeting in the Legion Hall on March 29 at 8 p m. He will show a 30 minute geology film and discuss state lands leasing controversy, soil business operations, and comparisons with Montana and other oil producing regions. The public is invited.

Otter Creek 4-H Club Named County Outstanding

The Otter Creek 4-H club was selected as the county’s outstanding club. Walt Huffman of the Lions club presented a commemorative plaque at the Robert Cosgriff ranch meeting. Lions members explained their work and each member answered roll call with a pet’s name. An Easter potluck at the schoolhouse and an Easter egg hunt for young children followed. A $2 donation was given to the Red Cross. Refreshments were served by Mrs. Cosgriff.

The Forsythe and Sandsness families gathered as Peter B. Forsythe married Evelyn Lucille Sandsness at the Evangelical United Brethren church with 110 guests. The ceremony featured a 7:30 pm double ring service, a solo by A Ronald McDonnell, and a reception with a four tiered cake. The couple will live in Livingston after a Las Vegas wedding trip.

The Lutheran church will hold a traditional three hour Good Friday service starting at 12 noon. Music directed by Mrs A Ronald McDonnell features the senior junior and children’s choirs plus special numbers. Sweet Grass County Votes on Special High School Levy

Electors will vote Saturday April 7 on a special high school levy of 15 6 thousand dollars in addition to the regular ten mill levy to fund instructional costs maintenance and school plant improvements. Polls open 2 to 6 pm in district schools with trustee elections on that day. The preliminary budget estimates total expenditures of 86 850 dollars with the aim to cover instructional costs maintenance and capital outlay for 1956 57.

Mrs. Hans Tjaaland 70 a lifelong Sweet Grass county resident died suddenly of a heart attack Sunday while leaving a car to attend Lutheran church services in Big Timber. Funeral 2 p m at Big Timber Lutheran with Rev Wm A Hood. burial Mountain View. Survivors include husband two daughters twin sons nine grandchildren five great grandchildren and one sister in Norway. She was born November 11 1885 in Romsdalen Norway came to Big Timber in 1902 and married Hans Tjaaland in 1904.

Albert E. Ellison Dies Unexpectedly at 60

Albert Edward Ellison age 60 of Sweet Grass country died of a heart attack Saturday afternoon after earlier illness. He worked 37 years for the county road department. Survived by two daughters Adeline Morley and Alice Green, a son Bill Ellison, three sisters, a brother, and nine grandchildren. Funeral at Lowry Funeral Home with Rev. Hood in Mountain View. Born June 18 1895 in Big Timber. Married Blanche West March 25 1916. she died in 1951.

Good Friday Union Service Plans Near Completion

The fifth annual Good Friday three hour service at the grade school auditorium brings together Church of God St Mark s Episcopal and Congregational churches. Mrs Frank Chase leads accompanists for massed choir with soloists Mrs Robert Groom Jim Goosey and others. Miss Karen Whittet directs. The Seven Last Words theme features two male readers per unit.
