Washington March 17 The Bureau of Agricultural Economics says 1934 wool production may be the same or slightly lower than 1932, marking a minor decline from 1933 and an increase over 1932. The revised 1933 shorn wool total is 364 730 000 pounds, up six percent from 1932 but down two percent from 1931.

Port Huron, Mich. March 16 Undersheriff Charles Cavanaugh died in City hospital Friday night from bullet wounds suffered in a day gun battle with Herbert Youngblood, companion of John Dillinger in the Crown Point jail escape. Youngblood died hours later. Sheriff William Van Antwerp and Deputy Howard Lohr were wounded. Lohr critically. Fields, a Negro bystander, was wounded. a deathbed statement linked Dillinger to the case, prompting state police to patrol the St. Clair lake region. Multiple sightings prompted three squads to rush to Marysville airport seeking Dillinger's location.

Chicago report states eight African Americans were executed in the south on Friday four for murder and four for assaults on white girls. In Mississippi three admitted guilt while one denied. in Milledgeville Georgia Isaac Howard Ernest McGehee Johnny Jones confessed a 17 year old girl attack and sang as the chair drew near. John Downer claimed another wore his shoes in the same case and Sandy Walker said he accepted the penalty after killing two Worth County men. A double electrocution in Raleigh, North Carolina felled Jesse Brooke and James Johnson for separate crimes.

Residence requirement not retroactive, Montana AG rules
Attorney General Raymond T. Nagle ruled the special session law extending relief residence from six months to one year is not retroactive. Forsyth Man Slays Daughter Then Hangs Self in Basement
Richard W. Kauffman, 47, killed his daughter Dorothy 15 as she slept, then shot himself in Forsyth. A coroner's jury ruled murder and self-inflicted death. Dorothy, a Forsyth High junior and tap dancer, was found by cousin Ruth Ann Wiekum. Kauffman left a long incoherent letter and had returned recently from a railroad hospital.
