Call For Bids On New Boulder Bridge
The state highway commission invites bids for a concrete and steel bridge over the Boulder river on the McLeod Big Timber road. The bridge lies below last year’s county structure and is part of a state approved plan to complete 6.4 miles of highway between the first and second bridges. Construction is set for this summer per the county commissioners.

Services Held For Mrs. Ellen Hawks in Columbus
The funeral for Mrs. Ellen Mae Hawks 87 wife of George Harry Hawks of Reed Point was held in the Columbus chapel. She died of a heart attack at home Sunday. The Rev. Andrew Roukema officiated with pallbearers Milo Collins Frank Deeney Jud Deeney James Friend William Richards and Fred Swift. Burial followed in Reed Point cemetery. She was born June 22 1882 in Winona Minnesota and married Hawks in 1910. The couple moved to Reed Point in 1912 and farmed five years. Survivors include her widower three daughters Mrs James Bachman Deer Lodge Mrs Charles Noon Garrison Mrs Ronald Williams Seattle a son Harry Hawks Montana State University three brothers a sister and four grandchildren.

The 1890 Big Timber blaze started in Stocker and Moore's drug store when a lamp toppled by a greyhound. The fire burned the drug store, a school building, and two residences, with losses including Shanks and Lee bankers at 500 dollars, Stocker and Moore drugs at 2500, Dr. Moore library at 1300, Oscar Anderson residence at 800, H O Kellogg residence at 700, and Harvey Bliss two residences damaged at 250.
