National Park Animals Bound for Buenos Aires Journey Opens
A pair each of Yellowstone buffalo and elk are shipped by the National Park Service to the Zoological Gardens of Buenos Aires Argentina. The animals began Thursday at Livingston and moved to Butte before continuing in a baggage car. Each animal is caged in a heavy steel reinforced crate with no room to move.

San Francisco Area Hit by Mild Earthquake
A quake about half as strong as the 1906 shaker rattled the San Francisco area on March 8. It caused minor damage across East Bay cities including Oakland Berkeley Alameda Albany and Richmond but caused no injuries.
