Youth Barricaded as Posse Battles Gunfire in New Mexico
In Albuquerque an unnamed 16 year old, Lonifacio Torres, shot and wounded three Valencia county peace officers. Deputy Reymondo Lovato killed the youth as a 200 person posse pressed the barricaded home. Officers Chafick Cunningham and Rafael Saecher were wounded.

Snook is Executed for Murder of Student Mistress
Dr. James H. Snook, a 50 year old veterinary professor at Ohio State University, was executed in the electric chair at Ohio Penitentiary for the murder of his 24 year old student mistress Theora Hix. He confessed the crime as deliberate to protect his career. After life in prison eight months and seventeen days after the body was found, he died at 7:09 p.m. following three electrode charges.
