More than 101 children have registered for the summer recreation program at the park. Registrations continue daily with activities including group games tennis and swimming lessons. Scheduling notes include no activities July 4 and a June 29 bicycle rodeo and dance with Goosey Orchestra.
Livingston appoints George J. Allen to replace District Judge Ben E. Berg effective July 1 in the Sixth Judicial District covering Park and Sweet Grass counties. Allen, a Livingston attorney and Montana State University law graduate, has served as county attorney and in the state legislature, with wartime service and leadership roles in local Farm Bureau and civic groups. The article notes Berg’s term would have expired December 31, and mentions candidates Earl C. Ammerman and Allen for the four year district judge seat beginning January 1, 1957.
Mrs Harold Thomas nee Harriett Broderick a well known former resident of Sweet Grass county died from a self inflicted gunshot at her Roundup home after an attempted shooting of her husband. Coroner at Roundup says the pistol fired when she aimed at her head. Funeral held in Livingston with Rev Waldo Wall officiating. Burial at Livingston Mountain View cemetery. Surviving husband two daughters two brothers and four grandchildren.
Sweet Grass county farmers may list cattle and lambs for sale to nearly half a million buyers across Illinois Iowa Minnesota Indiana Colorado and California. County Farm Bureau president Richard Marshall announced the program.

A large hailstorm lashed a broad stretch from Springdale to Big Timber causing window damage, dented vehicles at the gravel pit, and minor injuries including a arm cut from a shattered pane. Water overflow on Highway 10 and a washed culvert disrupted traffic, with crops largely spared. The event occurred Friday, one day shy of a year after a costlier storm.
About 250 Montana girls attend the American Legion Auxiliary sponsored Girls State at Montana State College in Bozeman. A full slate of state county city and precinct officers will be elected including a Girls State governor to succeed Marilyn Dickson. Chinook.
Governor J Hugo Aronson announced the appointment of Ross G Williams of Big Timber to the Montana Milk Control Board. Williams will replace Less L Brown of Helena, and his term expires May 1 1960.

A district court jury grants Betts a divorce after hearing about eleven chinchillas a parrot a cat a dog and tropical fish in the home. Mrs Alex Watson was admitted to St Vincent hospital in Billings last Thursday for observation after entering the facility for medical evaluation.
Curtis Jacobson of Big Timber won the 11th annual Knights of Pythias public speaking contest in Anaconda. He will represent Montana in Spokane on July 14 for sectional finals against winners from eight western provinces and states, with a path to New Orleans for the international finals.
The Big Timber City Band with Livingston and Bozeman bands will headline Sunday's rodeo parade starting at 11 a.m. from the city park, down McLeod to Second Avenue, then back up Anderson to Fourth. Frontier float entries are invited with prizes listed. sales and concessions planned with comfort for large crowds.
Friends and relatives mark the Kenisons twenty fifth wedding anniversary at the Dugout. Harold and Mrs. Kenison received gifts including silverware. They were married in Livingston on June 17, 1931 after ranching beginnings.
County 4 H leaders announce a talent show Friday at 8 p m in the Legion hall with Lloyd Rein as master of ceremonies. The program features a Bride’s Maid, flower girls, and 4 H clubs performing a play and musical numbers. A double ring wedding was held June 3 at Daylum Lutheran church in New England N C for Miss Bonita Johnson and Donald Duncan with several readings and songs.
Funeral services for George Alfred Smith 83 were held at Lowry Funeral Home after his death Sunday at Sweet Grass Community Hospital. The Rev E Brentwood Barker officiated with family prayer at 1 30. Pallbearers were Elvind Lomeland Chas Schuler Lawrence Vaughn Norman Hauge Oscar Stephens and Robert Nunsley. Burial will be in Breckenridge Minnesota. Survived by widow lone daughter Ruth Doode ward and sons Mansfield Smith and George Wendell Smith plus six grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren. Born November 13 1872 in Englewood New Jersey he moved to Minnesota in 1888. He married Emma Sherman January 26 1896 and lived in Esmond North Dakota before returning to Minnesota and later Big Timber arriving in 1929. He worked in grain business and ran a gas station before retiring.
