Abraham J. Smart of Big Timber died suddenly of heart trouble at his son Conrad Smart’s home Thursday. He had resigned as a guard at the state penitentiary due to ill health and had recently attended Memorial Day exercises in Bozeman. Burial will be in Bozeman beside his wife who died in a ranch fire in 1922. He leaves sons Conrad E. Smart of Big Timber and Bassett Smart of Belgrade. Funeral services were held in Bozeman with Odd Fellows and Woodmen attending.

Michael Riser Freed At Lewistown Trial
Lewistown June 12 The jury acquitted Michael Riser in the November murder case of Traffic Officer Frank Draper amid a door breaking liquor raid without a warrant. The second trial followed a fatal exchange after Prohibition Officer Koehler led the raid and broke in. Draper was shot in the abdomen. Riser fired the fatal shot.
