Exceptional pupil results at Big Timber public schools

Twenty six regular pupils took state eighth grade exams. all but three earned diplomas with credits. Thirty five county students wrote for diplomas. twenty five succeeded. Diplomas were granted to one pupil from district No. 5 and one from district No. 22. District No. 1 listed diploma recipients incl Stella Solberg, Oscar Solberg, Merle Griffith, Arthur Dixon, and others. Christina M. Sandness of district No. 5 and Madge A. Curtis of district No. 22 also received diplomas.

Ratcliffe Case and Habe nicht Verdict Highlight Court Session

In district court Judge Henry convened to address the Habe nicht grand larceny case tied to a prior Alexander robbery. Jurors heard Blaser and Maier testify while Habe nicht claimed innocence. the jury returned a not guilty verdict. Ratcliffe then pleaded guilty to second degree assault with a state exit condition and a $250 fine plus costs.

Settlement shows Milwaukee road since Jan 1 1910 brought Montana 5710 families

Helena report from P H Scanlon commercial agent of the Chicago Milwaukee and Puget Sound railroad counts 2284 immigrant cars with an average 2.5 families per car and estimates 28550 people settled in Montana via the line. Many settlers also came via other railroads and many moved farther from the immediate land offered.

Wool Market Prepared as Buyers Await Orders

Up to last evening 147 529 pounds of wool had been received at the local warehouse awaiting the market opening after July Fourth. No bids yet though several buyers have visited, awaiting headquarter orders before acting. Some clips are consigned to Chicago and Boston commission houses for safekeeping until market conditions improve. Names of clips received include G A Leasby, G B Pope, George W Moore, McIntyre and Chapman, Ernest Ingle, Charles Bryan, Charles McAlister, J L Repstad, Stocker and Co, T M Grosfield. More clips expected this week. warehouse to be about half full by end of next week.

Nelson Chosen Captain Of Big Timber Base Ball Club

Nelson was elected captain at the first Big Timber Baseball Club meeting after a reorganization. McKeever resigned as captain and became treasurer. Regular practices are set for Tuesday Thursday and Saturday evenings. Olsen Patterson and Snyder named to uniforms committee. Whitney and Kellogg thanked for free transport to Melville and townspeople for loyal support.
