Fourth of July Celebration Planned Near Melville
The Eagle reports a patriotic celebration organized by neighbors north of Melville with a Big Timber Independent band, an oration by Attorney J. T. Vaughan, a ladies prepared dinner, and a large tent. Races include half mile, quarter mile dash, pony and saddle horse events, a broncho busting contest, greased pig catch, potato and egg races, plus a fireworks display and grand ball. Many locals plan to join Melville residents for the day.

Interest grows as county girls enter the Pioneers free trip contest to Helena.
