Smith Boosts Two-Governor Plan For New York
Governor Al Smith proposed duplicating the executive by having one governor travel the state delivering addresses while a second would remain in Albany to handle state business. He preferred to stay in the capitol. Former governors Sam V. Stewart and Joseph M. Dixon and current governor J. E. Erickson likely agree with the idea.

Maintenance of Roads Discussed At Helena
Helena Montana June 5 Meeting today with the Montana State Highway Commission C G H Purcell chief of the United States Bureau of Public Roads for the district including Montana expressed his approval of the plans of the state commission for cooperating with the various counties in maintenance of federal aid projects. Thirty four of the 38 counties in which there are federal aid projects have accepted the commission s cooperative proposal. The federal bureau has indicated that it will approve the cooperative project outlined for participation by Great Falls Cascade County and the government except for three blocks lying in the city which contains too many houses to come within scope of the bureau s field. This would end the highway at 29th street instead of 26th as the outline of the project contemplated. Because of lack of state funds for cooperation federal road building activities in the state will necessarily be limited during the next two years at least but the commission was given to understand that consideration will be given to such projects as commend themselves from an engineering standpoint and contribute to the ultimate state system.
