The St. Louis Globe-Democrat notes President McKinley and his cabinet visit to the Southwest may influence irrigation legislation. Supporters foresee stronger government aid and new moves toward projects like the Gila River dam, as irrigation advocates organize to press Congress.
C M McFarland a veterinarian arrives in Billings as part of 18 inspectors from the agriculture department to inspect interstate sheep shipments. He will cover Billings and rail routes east to Miles City and south to Edgemont while cooperating with the state. Dr Illston acts at Great Falls on Great Northern routes.
