Rains cloudbursts and floods strike Sweet Grass county and surroundings, destroying barns houses and crops. Otter and Sweet Grass creeks rise dramatically washing out tracks roads and bridges while trains are halted and costs mount for railroad passenger relief.
The Dairy Department of Montana Agricultural College plans a dairy special train on the Northern Pacific with ten stops including Big Timber. A lecture coach will host afternoon and evening sessions on dairy issues and dairy industry development starting Monday June 22. A second stock coach will display grade and specialty dairy animals and milking machinery for day and night milking demonstrations.
The notice urges attendance at all sessions, emphasizing free access for all who can attend. The message highlights the upcoming visit to Big Timber on June 22 and asks the public to remember the date.
Beginning June first a new timetable went into effect on the Northern Pacific railway but poor traffic has limited adherence. Two new trains Nos 15 west bound stopping at Springdale and 16 east bound join regular service Nos 5 and 6 for local work. West bound times: 3 4 00 am 5 10 10 am 18 10 18 pm. East bound times: 2 7 06 am 4 10 37 pm 6 2 50 pm 16 6 16 am.
Thieves raided J S Solbergs harness shop taking shoes pocket knives and cheap jewelry. H O Kellogg store then burglarized for clothing shoes and knives. Town reports tramp infestation and a hoboe roundup prompted by police with no arrests at this time.
