Montana shows record settlement with 4 822 206.15 acres land homesteaded and 30 267 filings from June 1908 to June 1909. In eight months after, filings reach 10 738. February to April 15, 1910 yield 12 514. Average land values rose from $5 to $30. Dry-land farming and agronomic research accompany the influx as states study soil and climate for new settlers.
The 1910 graduation exercises were held in the Auditorium with a decorated stage and a large audience. Rev I S Ware gave an eloquent address on education as an investment. The program included an overture by the high school orchestra, songs by Bessie Leasby, diploma presentations by Principal W C Ryan, and a motto about striving. Class officers were Edna Bryan president, Mabel Busha secretary, Carl Cross treasurer, with members Edna Bryan Carl Cross Mabel Busha Inez Everett Ernest George Gladys Nicholson.
A new set of train times went into effect last Sunday on the Northern Pacific line with most arrivals adjusted. Westbound trains now arrive at 1:15 a m for No 1 2:28 a m for No 8 2:13 p m for No 5 6:88 a m for No 7 and 10:42 p m for No 41. Eastbound times show 2:47 a m for No 2 4:47 p m for No 4 7:31 a m for No 6 10:42 p m for No 8 and 4:56 a m for No 42.
