Montana highway patrolman Livingston resident since 1946 died when his car struck while he talked to a stopped driver on U S Highway 10 about 15 miles west of Livingston. The coroner ruled death by a broken neck and a coroner jury found the other driver guilty of gross negligence.

Dies In Billings Hospital Monday
Olaf Tweeden, 62, died at a Billings hospital Monday night after a cerebral hemorrhage. He had been employed at the Jessie Jones ranch where sheriff and undersheriff were summoned when he acted strangely. Found unconscious in water in a nearby slough, he was brought to the local hospital and later Billings. Funeral services will be at Lowry Funeral Home with date pending. Tweeden was a North Dakota native who worked in this area for years.

Overlands Observe Silver Wedding at Ranch
A group of friends hosted a buffet at the E. O Overland ranch Tuesday evening to honor Mr and Mrs Overland on their silver wedding anniversary. A purse of silver and other gifts were given. The Overlands wed in Big Timber on July 27, 1929, with local attorney moving here weeks before their marriage and serving 18 years as county attorney. Mrs Hannah Lysne of Drummond attended from the mother of the bride.

Farmers favor wheat controls in nationwide referendum
The agriculture department reported that wheat farmers voted 195801 to 71303 in favor of controls for next year. Only 38 of 132 eligible Sweet Grass county growers cast ballots, with a light turnout overall. The margin for controls was 73.3 percent, a record low, but enough to sustain price supports and the proposed acreage allotment of 55 million acres. Secretary Benson said the result shows farmers accept surplus adjustments and cooperate with quotas under future price supports.

Three Men Arrested in Billings Burglary Case
Three men Everett Pfieffer Chester Kahler and Orby Crofts were arrested by sheriff's officers in Billings after a burglary at the Stop and Swap store. A car matching a description was found with a rifle in the back seat and seven more guns in the vehicle. Kahler and Pfieffer pleaded guilty to first degree burglary while Crofts faced a receiving stolen property charge and bond set at 1500 dollars. The suspects were jailed and await sentencing.
