Seven Girls Perish In River Picnic Tragedy
Eight girls wading near Cedar Rapids Illinois river bank fell into a water hole. Lucille Sweeting aged seven slipped in and Hazel Sweeting fourteen died trying to rescue her. Six others including Coyle and Usher children perished. Survivor Ruth Klersey reported the sequence of events as the group struggled in the hole.

One Saved Out Of Seven From Trestle Train Crash
A nine month old baby survived a trestle collision near Clarksburg W Va when Elijah Norris of Uniontown Pa and his family were struck by a Baltimore and Ohio train. The infant was placed between ties by the mother and remained unhurt as others perished or injured.

Of 125 names called the first day only 69 made entries. At that rate many ranches will remain after filings are complete.
