The 119th anniversary of American independence and Sweet Grass county’s creation were celebrated in Big Timber with a morning parade led by the Big Timber Cornet Band. Hon W T Collins and others spoke at Blake's Park as races, salutes, and a music-filled day followed, drawing about 1,800 spectators.

Wool Market Slumps in Boston Then Follows Big Timber Trend
Wool prices fell in Boston on Tuesday, with Big Timber showing a small decline as well. Yet Big Timber buyers and growers report generally strong prices this season, with shipments totaling about 4,000,000 pounds. Monday sales topped half a million pounds, led by Veasey and McDonnell at 12 to Thos. Ryley and D. E. Folsom at 12 and seven-eighths to a St. Louis firm, others at 11 to 10. Major clips sold include Ralph Berry 150,000 lbs and John Work and Work & Davis 652,187 lbs, among others secured by W. W. Beasley.
