Yellowstone Boat Flotilla Set to Launch Friday Morning
The second annual Yellowstone River Boat Float departs Livingston at 9 a m Friday for Big Timber with a breakfast stop and an overnight camp. Participants may join as they wish as KGHL covers Friday events including a donkey race and barn dance with merchandise presentations and awards for sunburn. The group then continues to Columbus and Billings with Hank Klindt leading a large Big Timber delegation aboard multiple boats.

Pioneer Home Welcomes First Resident Mrs Margaret Hokanson
Mrs Margaret Hokanson the county’s first resident at the new Pioneer Home has long ties here dating to the 1920s era when she and her husband Ernest and son William Russell moved from Silesia. The Hokansons farmed near Gibson then moved to Big Timber after Mr Hokanson’s death in 1957. She lived at Big Timber Rest Home a year and six months before entering the Pioneer Home with Mrs Katie Gunderson and others helping.

Litterbug Law Takes Effect July First In Montana
A new litterbug law, House Bill 7, imposes up to a $100 fine for disposing of garbage on privately owned land where hunting or fishing is allowed and within 200 yards of public roads. Enforcement rests with state game wardens on public recreational property and private lands used for recreation, with other agencies handling general enforcement.

Purdue Fellows Honor MSU Graduate Engle in Latin America
Claire C Engle of Bozeman Montana State University earned an MS in animal science and a BS degree two years earlier. Engle 35 married father of two, graduate assistant at MSU, was chosen as one of seven Purdue Fellows in Latin America. Fellows start June 1 in two months of language training then 18 months in a public or private post in Latin America. They return to Purdue for residence and seminars after the work stint.

Roy Henry Watne 47 of 1138 Lewis Ave Billings died of a heart attack Saturday afternoon while at the Lutheran Bible camp near the Boulder. Watne was a real estate broker and president of the Lutheran Bible Camp association. He was survived by his family and others.

Married Martin D Boughton in Livingston 1897. Lived in Sunlite Basin Wyoming, then Livingston, then with daughter Mrs Tom Donlan. Moved to current home in 1949. Survived by daughter, a granddaughter and a great grandson.
