New Grazing Regulations for Forest Reserves Issued
The Agriculture secretary announces regulations governing grazing in forest reserves. The forest service may permit regulate or prohibit use of forage while protecting forests and water supplies. Grazing permits tie to stock numbers and damage, with possible reduction or exclusion. Cattle and horses generally allowed. sheep and goats restricted by area and season with multi year permits possible where conditions are favorable.

Analysts from Sinclair Gillette Co warn that a surge of high quality native steer cattle on the Chicago market will push prices up this year. Feeder cattle face off-season liquidation, with prices around 4.25 for fair feeding steers and 3.50 to 4.00 for lighter stock, while corn advances pressure fat cattle.
