Butte Not Satisfied With Census Figures
The Butte Miner reports postsurous figures in census counts and voter registration. Postmaster Phil Goodwin says at least 27 000 registered voters exist while 16 000 were registered at the last city election. Mayor Stodden calls the claim preposterous and Charles Austin cites local store accounts as supporting larger population estimates.
