Charter eyed for Big Timber

Big Timber voters may be asked to decide this fall on adopting a charter form of government. The Government Study Commission, after Friday meetings, endorsed a consensus plan to grant the city more flexible powers while preserving its current structure, with changes to be made as conditions warrant.

SGPA elects Van Cleve and Hammers mark to three year terms

Spike Van Cleve and Tom Hammers mark were elected directors of the Sweet Grass County Preservation Association for three-year terms at the annual meeting. The session included discussion with the County Government Study Commission about the Natural Streambed and Land Preservation Act and potential alternative government forms for county voters in November. Harold McLauchlan spoke to 67 attendees about offering an alternative without a costly special election and said the commission favors an option for voters to decide.
