Lions Take Pair From Absarokee Graders
The Big Timber Lions swept both games against Absarokee middle school teams last weekend. In the main event the Lions won 48 to 15 with Fuller 17 and Hauge 12 leading scorers, while in the preliminary contest Big Timber won 52 to 17 with Buster 15 and Hauge 8 topping the box. The Lions schedule a 10 a.m. meeting with Livingston at the high school gym Saturday.

The Big Timber Volunteer Fire Department with county and citizen donations purchases a $900 fully portable walkie talkie unit. It will be kept at the sheriff's office and used by firefighters on rural fires with 10 hours continuous operation. Two county shop employees have volunteered to transport it to incidents. The unit aids communications across wide areas, funded by Sweet Grass County donors.

Harry Cross Dies After Long Illness at 75
Harry Cross 75 of 842 Yellowstone Ave Billings died Tuesday in a Billings hospital after a long illness. He was born December 5 1889 in Sweet Grass county began as a clothing salesman and operated a tailor and dry cleaning shop in Big Timber until 1925 moved to Billings and worked as a clothing salesman until retirement. He served in the National Guard in World War I. Survivors include his widow a son Bryan of Billings a daughter Mrs Ralph G Smith of Midland Michigan a half-brother William Churchill of Big Timber five grandchildren and a great grandchild. Funeral services Friday at 930 am Dahl-Brown Funeral Chapel officiated by Rev John F McClelland First Congregational Church. Burial 2 pm Friday Sunset Hills Cemetery Bozeman.
