Survived by wife Mary and children Charles and Harry Willard Madera Calif Florence Yates Whitehall Mont Milton and Clayton Willard Big Timber nine grandchildren and one great grandson.

Former Clallan county treasurer Walter Baar 45 year old World War II veteran and civic leader pleaded guilty to grand larceny for a $38,000 shortage in county funds and was sentenced to up to 15 years in prison. Judge John M. Ralston imposed the sentence after Prosecutor Ralph Smythe filed the charge. Baar denies links to a separate $53,000 office burglary discovered hours before he relinquished the keys. Fairview Woman and Two Children Die in Second Floor Blaze
A gasoline stove explosion on Tuesday noon trapped a Fairview mother Mrs. Einar Engen 28 and her two children, a 5-year-old son and an 18-month-old daughter, on a second floor apartment. Engen was hospitalized severely burned while trying to reach his family as flames blocked the only exit. The three were pulled from the building before the fire was out. the cause of the explosion remains undetermined. The blaze damaged the structure and several adjacent businesses including a shoe repair shop, seed firm, and tailor shop.

Robert C. Whittaker, 20, of Bozeman, Montana, was jailed in Sacramento on a burglary charge after entering Sacred Heart Catholic church and allegedly attempting to empty the poor box from the basement with a pass key. Police said he admitted other church burglaries in California, including two in Los Angeles.

Wife of Dead Pilot Awarded Damages in Spokane Trial
A Spokane superior court jury awarded Mrs. Lorna Livermore 37500 for the death of her husband Joe Livermore a Northwest Airlines pilot killed two years ago while flying for the company. In Port Angeles Washington on January 17 Mr and Mrs Robert Foster former cashiers in Clallan County treasurer s office pleaded guilty to falsification of records and received up to five years in prison. They aided Walter Baar treasurer and civic club leader who confessed to embezzling 38000 in county funds. Baar had pleaded guilty and was sentenced to up to 15 years last Friday.
