A string of accidents occurred as roads remained slick. Gail Mc Pherson of Big Timber and Jim Martin of Melville collided at 2nd and Hooper on December 31. Another crash damaged a pickup at 6th and Hooper on New Year’s Day. Three or four cars wrecked seven miles west of Big Timber at Hammersmark ranch on January 2. Loren Ellison struck a parked car in front of Vic Braaten’s home and was cited for reckless driving. he was treated for minor injuries.

Veterinary Clinic Sold Effective January 1
Dr Don van derHagen purchased the Big Timber Veterinary Clinic from Dr Don Henke effective January 1. Van derHagen, a Lewistown native who practiced in Stanford, moved to Big Timber last September and is a Colorado State University veterinary graduate. He and his wife and son live at 5th and Harper. Henke remains affiliated with Montroy Ranch Industries and will assist during busy seasons for a couple of years. Mrs Floyd Thomas becomes the new bookkeeper, replacing Miss Elaine Anderson.

Sheriff notes New Year eve report of a carload of boys trying to scare two babysitters by driving up the driveway and alley. An officer could not locate those responsible. The youths later phoned the home and threatened the girls. Phone calls persisted into early morning. A theft of a drop cord and light from a deadbolt heater is reported.
