John Paul Chase, an outrider of the Dillinger gang, was held on a murder charge on Saturday night as a confederate of George Nelson in the Barrington, Illinois battle. Captured Thursday at Mount Shasta, California, he heads to Chicago to face charges for the deaths of Inspector Samuel P. Cowley and Special Agent Herman E. Hollis. Nelson, aka Lester M. Gillis, was killed. Mrs. Nelson was arrested in Chicago.
Secretary Wallace told the American Statistical Association that further reduction of agricultural supplies would not be in the public interest. He said the time for drastic reduction is over and the focus now is on controlled expansion and adjustments for 1935.

London December 28 Lydia Binks condemned to die January 3 for murdering her child was granted a reprieve by the home secretary. She would have been the second woman executed in England in eight years if the sentence had stood. Frederick Rushworth, 29, convicted with Binks of burying their child at York last March, was not reprieved and faces execution January 2 in Leeds.
The Montana board of pardons may visit the state penitentiary at Deer Lodge or ask Warden Austin B Middleton to sit with it during monthly sessions. Attorney General Ray mond T Nagle and State Auditor John J Holmes discussed the plan to gain more intimate information on prisoners.
Springfield, Dec 28. The state tax levy board voted to continue waiving the state tax payable in 1935, marking the second consecutive year no state property tax will be collected. Local taxes by townships counties cities and school districts remain unaffected by the action.
Thomas Volkov, 31, was shot in the forehead at his Miles City ranch home Sunday night and died Monday in a local hospital. Sheriff Claude Anderson said John Roskoff, described as a friend, was in the house but did not hear a gunshot. investigators found no self destruction motive.
Sources say the North Dakota attorney general may drop its challenge to Thos H Moodie's U S citizenship. Attorney General P O Labre declined comment as Moodie's lawyers contend they can prove Moodie is a U S citizen and thus eligible to govern.
Washington dispatch reports Montana awarded 2,560,449 dollars in federal highway funds under the Hayden Cartwright act for next fiscal year. Nebraska gets 2,581,663 Wyoming 1,559,440 in the 125 million program. States must match federal funds. the federal share is released on proof of completed work.
Great Falls report shows Montana motor fatalities in motion reached 203 for the year, based on Great Falls Tribune records. Excludes deaths from heart attacks exhaust gases or other non moving vehicle causes. last year fatalities were 115.

Howell scored twice and Grayson powered Stanford, but Alabama seized control in the second period with a prolific aerial attack and a 67 yard run.
George Soule editor of the New Republic told the American Economic Association that 200 men control business in America. He said the day of the small businessman is gone and stockholders have lost their say in big business management. He noted these 200 exercised a censorship over progress.
