Leonard Geizler of Baines appeared before Justice Lyman Moulden on trespassing charges filed by Paul Van Cleve Jr. He pleaded not guilty and requested a jury trial. Judge Moulden set February 25 at 2 30 p m for the trial. Mouat and Overfelt of Billings represent him.

Kidnap Suspect Turner Is Sentenced In Kingman
Charles Edward Turner 34 pleaded guilty to assault with intent to commit murder and received eight to 10 years in state prison. He was captured in Kingman after kidnapping Joyce Hitchcock 17 in Helena Montana and shooting at a Kingman officer. Turner surrendered after refuge in an Episcopal parish.

Clarence Brower Dies at South English Iowa Home
Clarence Elroy Brower longtime lamb buyer and South English resident died January 19 at his home. Born October 1, 1880 near South English, he married Mary Virginia Grove on December 25, 1906 and celebrated their golden anniversary last Christmas. Survived by wife two sisters brother four grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Intruders climbed onto the boiler room roof and entered the high school through the speech room. They used eggs from the hot lunch kitchen to decorate the study hall and other areas, creating a messy cleanup for custodian Martin Songstad. No classrooms were damaged, all were locked except the speech room, which was unlocked from inside.

Two Civil Cases Dismissed In District Court
Judge George J. Allen ordered dismissal of Montie Riter vs Marion Powers after stipulation by attorneys. A second case Montana vs Frances Strobel was also dismissed. O J Paulson asked dismissal of the manslaughter charge for insufficient evidence. The state supreme court ordered a new trial in the related case. Affidavits seek venue change for two Strobel civil actions brought by L W Hagemann and Joann Little.

Adelbert Del Whitney 92 a Montana pioneer and Sweet Grass county resident died at the Ranch House Rest Home. Funeral services were conducted from St. Mark's Episcopal church with Rev. Price officiating. Burial was in Mountain View. Whitney who came to Montana in 1882 wrote an account of his life and served three terms as Sweet Grass assessor.

Weather swings in cold snap with record lows
A cold wave drops temperatures to well below zero, with official readings as low as four below Wednesday night and unofficial town reports from six to sixteen below. The court house record for the past week shows daily lows ranging from 4 to 28 below and highs from 41 to 57, with .09 inches of precipitation. Mr and Mrs Lester Coil and their children from Glendive visited locals over the weekend.
