Tornado devastates lumber plant and homes in Oconee county
A tornado hit Oconee Georgia on February 10 killing one white person and 25 black workers at the Cleveland-Oconee Lumber plant and injuring 30 to 40 others. The main building remained intact while 50 homes were destroyed and 2,000,000 feet of lumber was leveled. A relief train ferried the injured to Sandersville and Tennile. The plant valued around 400000 dollars suffered unassessed damage.
