The Sheepherders overwhelmed Red Lodge 63 to 40 as McCauley scored 20 and Clark 19 leading the visiting team. Red Lodge led 14 to 13 after one quarter and trailed 29 to 23 at halftime, while Big Timber pulled away early in the final period. Widdicombe Armstrong and McDonald saw action for Big Timber. The B squad beat Carlton County 46 to 33 with all players seeing time.

John E. Cameron, 70, died at his home after months of ill health. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 2 30 P M from the Congregational church with Rev. Jack Howlett of Columbus presiding.
Allan H. Dodge 66 of Medford died February 8 in a local hospital. Services set for Saturday at noon in Conger-Morris chapel with Rev. George R. V. Bolster officiating. Burial in Siskiyou Memorial park. Dodge born July 27, 1884 in Big Timber Montana. He married Sara Janett Courtney July 23, 1912 in Big Timber. Surviving: widow, two children Mildred Johnson and Thyre A. Dodge, three brothers Benjamin John and Louis Dodge, three sisters Carroll Brown May Parker, four granddaughters, and other relatives.
Absarokee Feb 10 Huskies edge Big Timber 50 46 after a late rally. Key players include Gene Campbell and Maurice Blakely for the Huskies while Clark leads the Sheepherders with 9 points. Early 11 8 start gave Absarokee an 18 26 halftime lead as Big Timber fought back. Stebbins 15 and McCauley 13 top scoring for the losers.
A Scout court of honor and parents night closed Scout week at the Dugout. H. H. McIntyre presided as six Scouts earned advancement awards. Dr. B. Olness gave second class awards to Dennis Nicholson Fred Olness Curtis Jacobson and Kenneth Miekush. Alban Roemer presented first class awards to Donald Bray and George Bray. A short program and contests followed with refreshments served.
The Legion hoopsters walloped Lewistown Construction 69 to 39 on the local floor Tuesday evening. Erickson led with 17 points, Deegan 14, Gunderson 11, Ellison 10, while Fun paced the visitors with 21. The Legion opened 15 to 9 and led 32 to 13 at halftime, 52 to 25 after three quarters.
About 125 members and guests gathered at the Legion hall as the Big Timber Lions Club celebrated twenty five years since its 1926 charter. D. W. Higbie, first president, and three charter members were honored. Dr B Olness spoke on Boy Scouts and four leaders received Pendleton shirts. District officials J W Hagen and L C Wilson attended from Billings and Gardiner respectively.
E. E. Isaac extension horticulturist from the state college will be in Big Timber on February 27. He will offer landscaping and pruning consultations at the Legion hall downstairs from 10 a m onward, followed by a 7 30 p m talk. Requests for consultations may be left at Klindt Pharmacy or with County Agent Peterson. the meeting is sponsored by the Big Timber Lions Club with County Agent F B Peterson involved.
Plans for a district 5 A A U basketball tournament to be held in Big Timber with dates tentatively set for February 22 to 25. Exact sessions depend on entries. Eight to twelve teams expected from Bozeman Livingston Belgrade Three Forks Townsend Gardiner Clyde Park Wilsall White Sulphur Springs and Big Timber American Legion.
Melville couple return from Chicago where they attended their son Robert’s wedding to Patricia Glover on February 3. Raymond W. Dodge recalled to active duty as a captain in the air force after leaving Los Angeles to report at Ellington Field Texas. Sister Gordon Huyser brings Mrs. Glenos Cox and baby from Clearfield Utah, Cox joining Marines in San Francisco awaiting overseas. Young Adult class of the Evangelical church met at Mrs. Ralph Ryan’s. Elsie Jones led, new names drawn for the year, lunch served. Rev W E Bristol returned from Sarasota and Havana trip. Bristol remains in Big Timber for a few days. Charivari party and bridal shower held for Mrs Knight’s family at the Branham home. North Dakota trip for H H McIntyre and family. L Spencer returns from New York by plane. Billings guests include James Martin and two daughters. Grandson Jeffry Cunniff visiting. Dr and Mrs H C Roquet drove to Great Falls to bring him home for a few weeks. Annie Harrington of Big Timber and Trygve Solberg of Butte married in Bozeman. Olaf Fjare recovering after surgery in Billings. Orvin Fjare visiting. Harmony Home Demonstration club met. window treatment talk given. Firemen’s annual banquet at American Legion hall with Camp Auxiliary attendance.
Rita Christensen of Big Timber, a 1950 E M C E student, was elected one of five Sweetheart candidates for 1951. President A G Peterson announced plans to send portraits to a Hollywood star for selection, with the final choice kept secret until the February 23 Sweetheart ball.
About 100 attendees gathered for the Cub Scout anniversary at the Lutheran parish. Cubs received awards from Cubmaster Paul True and Scout Master Palmer Finsvik, with Rev. E E Tollefson leading a vocation. Dens performed skits with Washington and Lincoln themes and held a needle threading contest.
Mrs. Lars Wangsmo 79 died Sunday at Lott hospital Livingston after a month long illness. Funeral services were led by Rev. E E Tollefson from Big Timber Lutheran church. Burial followed at Mountain View. Survived by husband three sons Ole Rostad Billings Robert Rostad Magnar Wangsmo Big Timber a daughter Karen Lampman Big Timber a brother Olaf Rostad Lennep and three grandchildren four great grandchildren.
Judge B E Berg is confined to St Vincent hospital in Billings after a Saturday heart attack. He was walking with Judge Ben Harwood when illness struck and his condition today was reported satisfactory. He has been in Billings largely to handle cases for Judge Guy C Derry.
The Stillwater-Sweet Grass Nation al Farm Loan association plans its annual meeting on Thursday March 1 in the basement of the Congregational church Columbus. A turkey dinner starts at 12 noon served by the Ladies Aid. Jake Frank will preside and introduce C C Upton regional manager of the federal Land bank. a business session will report progress and elect three directors.
The Community Hospital Guild launches a Babies Alumni Association to fund maternity service improvements and nursery equipment. Dues are one dollar annually per baby, with founder and associate memberships. Benefits include a birth certificate photo, birthday greetings, nurse visits, and a plaque inscription for each new member.
