E R Patterson Dies Unexpectedly in Big Timber
E R Pat Patterson 58 died at home after illness last Monday and a heart ailment. He owned Fat s Welding shop in Big Timber and had 22 years with Montana Power Co before starting his business six years ago. Born January 10 1902 in Spokane he married Thelma Carlson in October 1931. He lived in Montana since 1931 except for three years in Columbus. Survivors include his widow two sons Richard and Carl three brothers Don Paul and Bob Patterson. Funeral plans were not announced.

Club Airs Views On Hunting Issues
At a meeting called by Game Warden Robert Bird about big game policy the Red and Gun club adopted several recommendations. About 40 members including guides and forest service reps backed a uniform two door season from October 1 for six weeks and a southern bull elk hunt. They urged a $1 antelope permit fee for non hunting applicants and supported placing bears in the trophy class due to low meat hunting, with government trappers currently doing most bear killing. The banquet committee was named and members will help at the Dugout before Billings tourney.

The Jaycee sponsored rural school program opened with two junior high contests. In the seventh and eighth grade game the Big Timber Lions won 17 to 16. Scorers for Big Timber included Paulson six and Rine four with several others contributing. Country kids led by Shay six and Strobel five. Other players noted for both teams with limited or no scoring.

Justice Court Fines For Speeding Waste of Game Meat
In Justice Court John W Sweet and Chas G Ogburn were fined 15 dollars each for exceeding night speed limit. C M Sheen paid 25 dollars for waste of game meat after claiming the warden confiscated the remaining carcass. Mervin T Heacock pleaded guilty to improper passing and paid 10 dollars after a collision on highway 10 west of Big Timber. Clayton Purcell faces a future hearing on giving beer to minors while Eddie Thompson and Trygve Hoyem paid 10 and 15 dollars respectively for failure to yield right of way. Chas Jenkins was fined 10 dollars for running a stop.

Blood donors exceed quota in Sweet Grass county drive
Mrs Ione Bristol reports 88 people turned out for the Red Cross blood mobile in Sweet Grass county with only 10 rejected. The drive surpassed its .65 pint quota by 13 pints, reflecting an unusually strong donor response and thanks to helpers in the event.

Greg Lux of the ine conservation service will transfer March 7 from the Big Timber office to Whitehall. He leaves to be succeeded by Frank Biglen of Billings. Lux has served since March 1938 and been active in Jaycee and community work. Biglen has completed a small apartment at the Sam Morris place near Highway 19.
