Farmers Institute Monday Draws Noted Speakers and Music

The big Institute for Sweet Grass county farmers will be in the Auditorium next Monday afternoon and evening. Several noted speakers will be present and the Big Timber Band makes its first season appearance. The High School Orchestra will also perform. Come and enjoy.

The Big Timber Public School notes irregular attendance over two weeks with six teen absences in one week and nineteen the next, six tordies, and a month total of sixty five absences and six tardies. Entries describe studies on The Little People of the Snow and Abraham Lincoln as well as health related absences and a Banner Society program planned for February 12.

A major railroad theft case centered on the Northern Pacific line at Livingston Montana leads to nearly twenty arrests. Authorities report recovered wagonloads of goods including 13 polar bear skins 18 cases of shoes 1300 pairs of socks and other items. Additional arrests and recovered loot are anticipated as investigations continue.

A carload of poles will spark the start of a complete rebuild of the Bell Telephone plant in Big Timber. The project aims to expand cable work and improve service for about nine thousand subscribers, including ranchers connected to Montana long distance lines.
