Last Rites Held For Archie Lake
Archie Lake 65 longtime Big Timber civic figure died Friday at Sweet Grass Community Hospital after an overnight stay following tooth extraction. Born December 12, 1901 in Ada Minnesota he lived in Thorne North Dakota Dunseith North Dakota before moving to Big Timber in 1957 where he and Doris Carl son Lake owned Motel Western. He was active in the Lions Club and Big Timber Lutheran Church. Survivors include his wife two sons two brothers and other relatives. Funeral services were held Monday at the Big Timber Lutheran Church with Rev. Ocee Johnson officiating.

Fair View Ranch Tops Angus Sale At Montana Winter Fair
The top bull sold for $2,000 at the Montana Winter Fair in Bozeman with Fairview Ranch, Melville consigning and Dave Hanks, Dil Jon and Corbett Angus Ranch, Chateau purchasing. A second bull named Top Cow went to Lenhardt Brothers of Cowley Wyoming for $1,000. Twenty three bulls averaged $630 and nine females averaged $555.

Rodeo Contract Signed for June 11 Show
The Big Timber Jaycees announced this week that the contract for the 1967 rodeo has been signed. Reg Kesler of Rosemary Alberta will be the producer again this year. The show is set for Sunday June 11 with Kesler noting a strong lineup including 14 bucking horses and Big Timber, a top performer in the Kesler string. Roger Mawson, the returning clown, has a new act and remains a leading bull fighter.

City Campground Development Near Big Timber Begins
A cooperative project between the City of Big Timber and the Big Timber Jaycees starts work to develop the Boulder River Campground southeast of town. Plans include permanent fire places, picnic tables, water wells, toilets and garbage facilities. Forester Tom Ellis and the Jaycees civic committee drew the layout, which was staked Saturday by Ellis and others. Jaycees cleared roads and parking areas as city crews continue the work. A group of volunteers labored Sunday, with several named participants listed.
