House Rejects Labor Proposals To Modify Strike Control
Washington reports the House tentatively approved a sweeping strike control bill 197 to 115 but final action was delayed until Thursday after Rep. Clare Hoffman demanded reading the engrossed bill. The measure, led by Francis Case, faces opposition from some members and includes a 30 day cooling off period.

The first group of British brides reaching New York aboard the Argentina after a nine day North Atlantic voyage. 451 women and 175 children aboard. brides from England Ireland Scotland Wales and Malta headed to 44 states. Thirty expectant mothers. three in advanced pregnancy. This marks the first brides ship in over two centuries bringing British wives to American soldiers.

Funeral services held here for Thomas Cosgriff pioneer resident
Funeral services were conducted Tuesday morning at St. Josephs Catholic church for 83 year old Thomas Cosgriff a Sweet Grass county pioneer found dead in his Great Falls hotel room. Burial was in Mountain View. Cosgriff born January 12 1863 in Tipton Iowa came to Montana in 1884 and worked for the Northern Pacific railroad before settling near Grey Cliff and Deer Creek. Surviving are a daughter Mrs Edward Garrity four sons James W George F Richard M and John Cosgriff two sisters and six grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Sweet Grass County sheepmen join with the Montana agricultural experiment station and extension service for a wool school at Fra ternity hall Big Timber from 10 a.m. to about 4 p.m. A noon feed is provided by the Lower Boulder Farm Bureau women. Dr. J. F. Wilson of the University of California will speak along with Dr. R. T. Clark of the Montana experiment station and F. A. Ralston of extension livestock.

36th Annual Meeting of Sweet Grass Wool Growers
Nearly a hundred wool growers and guests attended the 36th annual meeting of the Sweet Grass County Wool Growers association at Fraternity hall yesterday. After a free feed by the Pythian Sisters the meeting began at 1 30 with President D D Johnson in charge. Members approved last meeting minutes and the financial statement. County Agent H M Oefstos spoke on predatory animal control programs and progress in 1945 46, followed by remarks from Carl O Hansen secretary of the state association and Dr Harold Hollands on agricultural outlook. J A Ralston discussed postwar livestock adjustments and quality production. Glen Parker spoke on wool handling and the trade. Members and guests listed included W E Hendershott Wm Soderlind Clyde Howard J C Urquehart J K Dwinelle E E Redman Alban Roemer and Robert Parker. A membership assessment was approved: five dollars for 1000 or more sheep and two fifty for 500 or fewer. Danny Fahlgren was taken to Columbus hospital Saturday in critical condition with pneumonia. Several families hosted visits and dinners at homes in Reed Point and nearby towns including Bridger, Park City, and Columbus. The War Department announced that dependents of all army ranks may join troops overseas contingent on housing food and medical care. Families must stay overseas at least a year.
