Mrs. Cora Johnson, 73, long-time Montana resident since 1871, died Monday at a Livingston hospital after a period of ill health. Born near Bozeman, she moved with her family to Livingston in 1902 after marriage to Michael J. Johnson, owner of Chestnut coal mine. he died in 1925. Survived by three children Dom Johnson and Charles Johnson in Livingston, Mrs. Edward Taylor of Corvalis, four sisters, one brother, and seven grandchildren.

Drinking contest ends in tragedy for Newark girl
Newark. A twelve year old, Margaret Boylan, died after consuming about five quarts of water in a drinking contest with her brother and sister. Essex county medical examiner Dr. Harrison Martland called the death death by internal drowning. Her siblings drank 140 and 120 whiskey glasses respectively. Margaret died shortly after midnight.
